The Jefferson County Historical Society (JCHS) is more than just an organization; it's a heartfelt community dedicated to preserving the rich tapestry of our county's history. As a non-profit corporation, JCHS is committed to the preservation, restoration, and safekeeping of our cherished historical structures, documents, artifacts, and heritage.
Our journey began in 1978 with the passionate efforts of local citizens who formed Restore Our Courthouse to save the Jefferson County Courthouse from being replaced by a modern building. This initiative blossomed into the JCHS, continuing the mission to protect and celebrate our county's unique history.
For over 40 years, JCHS members and county citizens have worked tirelessly to ensure that the stories of the people, places, and events that shaped our county are not lost. It's through the dedication and support of individuals like you that we can preserve our area's history from its earliest beginnings to the present day, ensuring that future generations can connect with and learn from our past.
Thank you for being a part of this important journey. Together, we are keeping the spirit and history of Jefferson County alive and thriving.
